A 35-year-old woman was recently sentenced to 4–9 years in prison for selling the drugs that killed another woman last year in a Lancaster County hotel room, prosecutors said.
Lancaster resident Tasha L. Vargas previously pleaded guilty to drug delivery resulting in death, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office. Facebook messages showed Vargas messaged the woman Jan. 14, 2021, saying she had “real d not fetty,” or heroin and not fentanyl, prosecutors said.
Surveillance footage showed Vargas and the other woman enter the Budget Host Inn on the 2100 block of Lincoln Highway East, East Lampeter Township, around 3:50 a.m. Jan. 14, prosecutors said.The woman who overdosed was found dead in a hotel room around 11:32 a.m., prosecutors said. Her cause of death was acute fentanyl and heroin toxicity.
