The annual energy conference is expected to bring more than 7,000 visitors to Houston,...
A CERAWeek by S&P Global attendee takes a look at the conference informational packet, Monday, March 7, 2022, in Houston. Two of Houston's marquee events converge this week, filling hotels, packing restaurants and providing the city with the financial rewards of being the world's energy capital and, for the time being, its cowboy capital.
The wide-ranging effects of the energy gathering, held at the Hilton Americas, can be seen in the city's East End at one of its iconic restaurants, the Original Ninfa's on Navigation, said Justin Solomon, director of operations. CERAWeek is one of Houston's bigger recurring conferences, Heckman said. The annual conferences the city hosts are generally in the range of 3,000 to 5,000 attendees. It also draws those who are visiting Houston for the first time. This year, for example, Malaysia is sending about 100 attendees, the biggest delegation in that country's history.
"It seems like oil and gas companies, they really do a lot of social events and mixer events and happy hours. They’re always kind of wining and dining their guests and their clients," Soroka said.
