The Chardon Hilltoppers (2-1) bounced back off a loss the previous week, and won 28-10 on their home turf over Avon Lake.

For Avon Lake, they made the hour drive to Chardon as they looked to win their third consecutive game. But for Chardon, it was a recovery mission after allowing a last-minute score, in a 50-49 loss the previous week to Tiffin Columbian. The 50 points allowed defensively was not taken kindly by coach Mitch Hewitt.
