, Charge Cars decided not to mess with its classic design all too much and instead use an officially licensed shell of the ’67 Mustang. While it looks largely original, the exterior has been modernized with LED headlights and taillights, flush-mounted door handles, distinctive wheels, and a fully enclosed front grille. The body panels are also made from lightweight composites.
The powertrain is particularly impressive. It consists of a 63 kWh battery pack that powers four electric motors delivering a combined 536 hp and 1,106 lb-ft of torque. Charge Cars says it can hit 62 mph in 3.99 seconds and is good for 200 miles of range on a single charge. Juicing up the battery to 80 per cent takes one hour through a DC fast charger.
The interior of the electric Mustang shares almost nothing in common with an original 1967 Mustang. For example, it rocks a digital instrument cluster, a portrait-oriented infotainment screen, a three-spoke steering wheel, wireless phone charge, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
