According to the facts presented in court, Brown was found in the front passenger seat. The woman was in the back seat in her pyjamas, Crown prosecutor Elizabeth Addabor said, adding the temperature was -30 C that day.
Addabor also sought a bench warrant for three key witnesses: the two victims of the home invasion kidnapping, and the fourth accused, who earlier pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and was sentenced to 18 months of time served. The victims called the court amid the proceeding to say they had slept in.
The Crown and defence lawyer Zachary Carter jointly proposed an 18-month sentence, which Gereke accepted. With an enhanced remand credit, Brown has just over a year left to serve on top of an unrelated drug trafficking sentence he is currently serving. He is also prohibited from possessing firearms for the rest of his life.
