’t get there from heeyah”, and as anyone who’s tried to drive from Maine to Vermont can tell you, there’s almost never a straight path from one place to another. We began our drive in Scarborough, a town just a few minutes south of Maine’s largest “city”, Portland, where the state’s bestare made and the real-deal rock- and pine tree-lined beaches begin in earnest. Our first stop was Crescent Beach State Park, full of rocky tide pools and an expanse of sandy beach.
The end of our one-day tour of the Maine coast ended where I first landed when I moved here in 2010 – the Midcoast.in Wiscasset isn’t just a lobster shack. It’s a traffic-stopping joint sitting so close to both the edge of the Sheepscot River and Route 1 that it could easily fall into either, and one whose patrons frequently cause major traffic slow-downs as they line up around the building for a taste of the lobster.
