A Chicago shooting left an off-duty police officer shot in the head in the 3600 block of North Elston Avenue, officials said
An off-duty Chicago police officer was shot in the face on the city's Northwest Side on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The officer, a woman, was shot during an apparent road rage incident in the 3600 block of North Elston Avenue on the border of the Irving Park and Avondale neighborhoods at about 3:10 p.m., police said. She was rear-ended and shot near a local Jiffy Lube. The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital, CPD Supt. David Brown said during a press conference. Brown was able to speak with her and she was conscious throughout their conversation.
Police are now searching for a suspect who was in a black SUV and sped off from the scene near Addison and Elston.Police said there is no evidence the officer was armed or fired a weapon.
