NY Waterway ferries made 9 of the rescues, the company said.
A 7-year-old boy and a 50-year-old woman died Tuesday afternoon when a private boat they were on capsized in the Hudson River near the Intrepid museum, authorities said.
Twelve people in total were onboard the vessel, including nine who were rescued by crews from NY Waterway ferries, the Garden State and the John Stevens, around 3 p.m., according to the company. NY Waterway said its crews rushed to help around 3 p.m., and coordinated with police and fire officials. Ferry service was restored after an initial interruption.
