Afghan security units backed by CIA carry out extrajudicial executions, enforced disappearances, indiscriminate air strikes and other rights abuses and should be disbanded - Human Rights Watch report

An Afghan security personnel arrive at the site of suicide attack in Jalalabad east of Kabul, Afghanistan, Friday, October 25, 2019.

A CIA spokesman said the agency conducts its operations "in accordance with law and under a robust system of oversight". "Because they carry out the most complicated operations but we are not assassins and there is oversight and accountability," said the official, who declined to be identified.
