Cisco is buying supplier Acacia for $2.8 billion, but the deal is an optical illusion, writes tombuerkle.

Cisco Systems on July 9 announced that it has agreed to buy Acacia Communications for $2.8 billion in cash. The $70-a-share offer represented a 46% premium over the previous day’s closing price of the optical data-components maker.
