The housing program prioritizes homeless people who are at high risk, including those over age 65 and those with underlying health conditions, and those who have been exposed to or tested positive for the coronavirus and don’t require hospitalization, but who need to be quarantined.Newsom said Saturday that he is in discussions with legislative leaders about the possibility of buying some of the motels where homeless people have been sheltered with the idea of providing more permanent housing.
