City employee likely electrocuted while putting up lights near now-closed Melrose Park polling place
People vote at West Grey Multi-Service Center, 1475 W Gray St., on Election Day Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, in Houston.One person was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon near the polling place at Melrose Park Community Center, officials said. The person had been working on a lighting fixture in the park.
Mayor Sylvester Turner confirmed that a city employee"was killed as a result of a tragic work-related incident at Melrose Park." In a statement, a CenterPoint Energy representative said"the individual was working on customer-owned equipment ... to install lighting at the park."
