Steven Spielberg’s private jet has burned more than $116,000 worth of fuel over the last two months, traveling almost 17,000 miles, according to a flight tracking database.
The film director and climate change activist’s plane has burned at least $116,159 in jet fuel in 16 trips since June 23 — emitting at least 179 tons of carbon dioxide in the last two months, according to data from ADS-B Exchange. The high numbers mean Spielberg emits roughly 11 times as much as the average U.S. consumer despite efforts from the movie director to crack down on climate change.

It's a true piece of real, measurable, quantifiable science,” Spielberg said in a 2018 interview."People have to come around to believing that this is — we are going to have to have a kind of confrontation with destiny unless we do something about it today."
The revelations come as several other prominent celebrities have come under scrutiny for high emissions. Taylor Swift, Kylie Jenner, and Drake have been criticized in recent weeks for reports indicating they frequently use private jets that spew out high levels of carbon dioxide for relatively short trips.
