Columbus detectives investigating after body found at Rumpke trash facility
Columbus police are investigating after a body was found at a Rumpke recycling facility in North Columbus on Thursday morning.
Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Jeff Geitter said crews were sent to the Rumpke district offices, located at 1191 Fields Ave., at 10:29 a.m. Thursday on a report of a possibly deceased person. Fire crews pronounced one person dead on the scene, inside the facility, but other details were not immediately known about how the person died and whether or not they were an employee.Jeff Meyers, East Area communications manager for Rumpke, said the facility primarily processes recyclable materials and work has been stopped at the facility as the police investigation is conducted.
