A Columbus police officer shot a man when responding to a call regarding domestic violence and mental health.

According to the body camera footage, the first officers got to the scene at 10:51 Wednesday night."My brother is having some type of manic episode," she told police. "He’s schizophrenic. He’s talking about how he wants to die."
"I just want to alarm you all," she told police. "I don’t want you all to shoot him or something, but he’s doing stuff to agitate."The body camera footage shows officers approaching the apartment and knocking on the door. For several minutes, officers ask 36-year-old Michael Frierson to come outside and talk with them.
Frierson's sister told her mom to go inside and tell him to come out. His sister also told officers about another sibling inside the apartment at the time. Nine minutes after police first knocked on the door, their body camera footage shows they kicked it in. The video shows Frierson moving his hands towards an officer's head, and the officer shoots him.
