High ankle sprains don't heal in one week. Chiefs can win, but it's unfortunate that Mahomes won't have his customary mobility.
The high ankle sprain that briefly sidelined and often hobbled Patrick Mahomes on Saturday didn’t prevent the Kansas City Chiefs from defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars in a divisional playoff game, nor did it stop Mahomes from completing 10 of 15 second-half passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.
He has overcome several injuries in the past. Take the AFC title game two years ago when he ripped the Bills for a 325 passing yards and three touchdowns, despite the “turf toe” ailment dealt him in the divisional round. The toe was surgically repaired after the Super Bowl loss to the Bucs. Harrison Butker’s second 50-yard field goal broke a 7-7 tie. Fueling a 98-yard touchdown drive that Chad Henne directed, Pacheco gained 54 yards on four carries and Henne converted on third-and-3 with a strike to Kadarius Toney.
