The incoming Park Forest mayor's to-do list includes a return to community-based meetings between staff and residents in what he sees as 'getting the village back to normal,' writes Jerry Shnay.

Shortly after he moved to Park Forest in 2000, and after his computer stopped working, Joe Woods began using one in the Park Forest Public Library.It was there he could create his stories and poems

And that is how Woods, who will be sworn in as Park Forest’s next mayor in May, became involved in the life and times of the community in which he will now be its public spokesman. That comes two weeks after these skills were sharpened in a trip to Springfield and meetings with the General Assembly. The board, Woods insisted, was able to maintain a working relationship in its dealings with each other. It was like many a marriage.
