CONCORD — A man died after a weekend shooting, and a juvenile was arrested on suspicion of homicide, authorities said.
In a statement Sunday afternoon, police said officers responded around 9:53 a.m. Saturday to calls reporting a male had been shot at the corner of Meadow Lane and Johnson Drive in the city’s Monument Corridor neighborhood. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. After providing him care, he was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His identity was not released, pending next-of-kin notification from the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office coroner’s division.
Detectives who also responded to the scene followed leads and identified a juvenile as a suspect. Soon after, police arrested the suspect on suspicion of murder and found evidence related to the crime in his possession.Contact George Kelly at 408-859-5180.
