Trump himself in a tweet assured that he would deliver his speech on time at 6:30 p.m. at the "Salute to America" at the Lincoln Memorial. "Weather looking good, clearing rapidly and temperatures going down fast," he wrote.Still, no official delays had been issued.that a delay in program had been announced at the event, and that the band had left the stage. But a spokesman for the U.S. Park Police told CNBC that he had heard no reports of delays in the celebration.
On the other side of the Washington Mall, however, U.S. Capitol Police ordered an evacuation of a portion of the U.S. Capitol building where an outdoor concert was set to be held due to severe weather.The White House had not announced a delay, and was promoting the event on social media shortly before the president was slated to take the stage.
Trump had promoted the event heavily through his Twitter account, promising "the show of a lifetime" that would include huge fireworks displays, flyovers and M1 Abrams tanks and other armored vehicles.
