The antitrust subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives held a hearing on July 16 on online platforms and market power. The company executives testifying were Adam Cohen, director of economic policy at Google; Nate Sutton, associate general counsel at Amazon; Matt Perault, head of global policy development at Facebook; and Kyle Andeer, vice president at Apple.
Separately, the banking committees in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives held hearings on Facebook’s proposed cryptocurrency, Libra, on July 16 and July 17, respectively.
