Stunning views, chic rooms and quite possibly the only place in Japan you'll find baked beans...
Osaka, the third largest city in Japan, is known as the more urban, gritty cousin of Tokyo and Kyoto, but there’s nothing unkempt about Conrad Osaka. With a dazzling riverside location, the concept behind this hotel is ‘your address in the sky’, and after arriving from nearby Osaka Station and being whizzed up to the reception on the 40th floor, we could see why.The views from this hotel are simply stunning - unsurprising given that all guest rooms are on the 35th floor and above.
If you can tear yourself away from wallowing in your private bath then head to the 20m pool. With loungers along one side, it’s a great place to relax after visiting some of Osaka’s more full-on neighbourhoods, such as Dotonburi, the buzzing, neon-lit district of shops and restaurants which you can reach easily via the underground from the hotel.
A highlight of any hotel stay is surely the breakfast buffet, and Conrad Osaka did not disappoint on that front. It was embarrassing how much our British hearts soared to discover there were baked beans and hash browns up for grabs, as well as plenty of fruit, cereal, bread, pastries and salad. For those who want a more authentic Japanese experience, there were also plenty of local dishes to sample, as well as a menu of plates to order such as Eggs Benedict or Orange and Chocolate Pancakes.
