UPDATE: Construction worker hit by vehicle on I-90; Avon Lake man charged for hit-and-run
According to ODOT, a 43-year-old male was setting up a work zone just before 2 a.m. when he was hit by an SUV that fled the scene.Westlake Police initially said the vehicle should have a damaged passenger side door mirror as well as passenger side front damage.
In an update Tuesday evening, police said that they have recovered the damaged suspect vehicle, a Toyota FJ Cruiser, and are interviewing the owner about the crime. On Wednesday, Westlake Police reported that a 50-year-old Avon Lake man was arrested Tuesday and arraigned in Rocky River Municipal Court at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. He was charged with felony aggravated vehicular assault and felony hit and run.ODOT said this is another reminder to slow down and move over for roadside workers.
