The Union Township Police officer alleges a hostile work environment due to her gender, disparate treatment, and retaliation, according to a lawsuit.
A veteran police officer in Union County has filed a lawsuit alleging rampant and widespread sexual harassment, corruption, and misconduct within the ranks of the Union Township Police Department.
“The township has already begun and has completed some internal reviews and will continue to ensure that our police department performs to the highest standards,” Antonelli said. When she reported the rumor to a now-former police director, he allegedly told her that he “did not care who was sleeping with whom,” the suit states. In the years that followed, the officer claims she has been denied promotions, “hounded” about her compensatory time, and brought up on bogus charges having to do with her side jobs.
The deputy chief returned the snowblower to the evidence room on May 25, 2022, using his personal pickup truck and a trail hitch, the suit says. On Jan. 2, the woman claims she was returning to the property room from a bathroom in the basement, when she was allegedly shot in the buttocks and upper legs with rubber pellets from a BB gun.
On Jan. 25, the woman met with a female lieutenant privately on a street in Union, away from police headquarters, to report the pellet gun incident, according to the suit.
