Corey Julks' high school coach recalls new Astro's 'life-changing game'
, Clear Brook baseball coach Gene Flores was an emotional outburst waiting to happen.
Julks played three years for Flores on the Wolverines varsity, and the duo’s connection has remained strong. Flores has closely monitored Julks’ progress the last eight years and been an active participant in his former player’s development. Flores recounted several key moments in Julks’ high school career that were monumental in his ascension.
“He became a tough, hard-nosed kid that could take hard coaching and wanted to be coached hard. He was always a silent leader, but man, could he lead with the barrel.”Flores, a former University of Houston standout, encouraged former Cougars assistant Trip Couch to come watch Julks play.
