Further recommendations advise that passengers should get tested one-to-three days before their trip and three-to-five days after the cruise ends, regardless of vaccination status. Those who are not fully vaccinated should quarantine seven days after their cruise ends. On Thursday, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown announced that teachers, staff, and volunteers must get a shot, reversing an earlier decision that individual districts would decide whether vaccines would be required, accordingStaff, faculty, and volunteers won’t be able to opt out of the vaccination requirement unless they have a documented medical or religious exemption. Oregon isn’t yet considering vaccination requirements for students.
Washington’s requirement also includes school staff, such as bus drivers, coaches, and volunteers. Employees can receive an exemption for religious or medical reasons, but “personal or philosophical exemptions” don’t apply, Inslee said. He also announced a new indoor mask mandate for ages 5 and older, which will go into effect on Monday.
Typically, as people interact and breathe in a room, currents and ventilation systems recirculate the air and disperse the exhaled particles. With plastic barriers, however, particles could get trapped in “dead zones” and build up. “This means if people are interacting for more than a few minutes, they would likely be exposed to the virus regardless of the screen,” she said.
“Air flow in rooms is pretty complicated,” Richard Corsi, dean of engineering at the University of California at Davis, told the newspaper. The KFF said it found that 72% of the two largest insurers in each state and Washington, D.C., had waived cost-sharing for COVID treatment. These 102 providers represented 62% of enrollment across fully insured individual and group markets, KFF said.
