Ford has big, long-term plans for its combustion-powered muscle car with the new Mustang GT3 racer.
with no replacement in sight—the Mustang GT3 race car could help secure the long-term future of the Mustangs we drive on the road, hints Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance.
"The seventh generation Mustang gives us a nice long runway on a road car and gives us that same long runway with race cars as well," said Rushbrook shortly after the covers came off the GT3 at Le Mans."People will still have Mustangs on the road, and they'll be able to go to the racetrack and either see, or themselves race, a Mustang. And there's a lot of people who want to do that.
