A group of seasoned musicians from Regina and Saskatoon joined forces amid the pandemic to produce their self-titled debut album, Parkland. Saskatchewan music

One by one, the other band members followed suit by recording their own parts separately. It was a unique approach necessitated by the pandemic, which made it difficult to gather as a group.

“When you’re playing with musicians, I feel like the best way is always to empower them rather than tell them what to do. With me playing in bands and kind of hand-picking these people, I already trusted them. I also wanted them to take a bit of ownership with the songs and with the band and not be just my personal thing.”The end result was “something pretty special.”

“I was kind of blown away by how good it felt and what the final product turned out to be,” Cameron said. “Will did a wonderful job and it really sounds great. It was really collaborative. Props to Will for having that radical trust that I don’t blame most songwriters for not having.” “I love these people dearly and we had a great weekend and played some awesome shows and spent some great quality time together bonding. It’s a unique experience that we already have a record and now we’re getting to know each other better. I’d do it again if it meant this record wound up sounding as great as it does. I wouldn’t change it.”Article content
