By starting with a perspective on the potential risk (harm) of AI in a job, we can better understand the implications of how AI will affect specific jobs.
● Human-out-of-the-loop: The AI runs without human interaction. To expand on each of these three main situations, let’s see how they can impact jobsThis AI aims to allow humans to mediate when humans disagree or determine that AI has failed. When the probability or the severity of harm is high, the system may need human intervention. However, if humans are not paying attention, AI will continue without human intervention. Human-over-the-loop situations may replace humans or augment their jobs.
AI is better than humans at particular tasks. If the job consists of many of these types of tasks, and the risks are low, those jobs are at risk. Arguably, humans should not be doing these types of jobs In many jobs, AI will execute the tasks that it is best suited for and enable a human to either intervene or produce a better outcome due to the human's ability to work with AI to make a final decision. For jobs where AI is augmenting decisions, both the employer and employee benefit.
