Welsh ministers face renewed calls for a Wales-specific inquiry after one for Scotland is announced.
, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said Scotland's Covid inquiry "will look at all matters related to the handling of the pandemic that are within our devolved competence".
Claire Fender, co-founder of Covid Bereaved Families for Justice Cymru, said the group was "delighted" by the news. "Unless we stop, evaluate and really look at everything, we're not going to learn and we're going to carry on with the same problems and so lives fundamentally will be lost," she told BBC Radio Wales Drive.
However, following Ms Sturgeon's announcement, the leader of the Conservatives in the Senedd, Andrew RT Davies, wrote to Mr Drakeford urging him to "waste no more time" in convening an inquiry. Plaid Cymru health spokesman Rhun ap Iorwerth said the Welsh government had "no excuse" not to follow Scotland's lead, urging ministers in Cardiff to "take responsibility" for their actions "good and bad".
"We need to look at what happened in detail, and in public, to learns lessons for the future," he added.
