Opposite Diggs, the Cowboys desperately need a No. 2 cornerback. Smith, a six-foot, 188-pound cornerback prospect, could be a plug-and-play starter within defensive coordinator Dan Quinn’s defense. He’s super physical with a high motor and pairs that with the excellent instincts in coverage that have led him to become one of the top prospects in his draft class at the position.
Enter Spears, a superbly talented runner with fantastic instincts, field vision, ball security, and contact balance. He was one of the biggest winners at this year’s Senior Bowl after showing off his elite speed and quickness as well as the potential he could bring on passing downs. A Pollard-Spears backfield in Dallas would be a scary sight for any and all opponents.
With Saldiveri, Dallas would get the chance to switch things back around on their offensive line. Tyron can move back to left tackle, Tyler can move in and play left guard like the Cowboys planned to start the season, and Saldiveri could hold down the right side with Zack Martin.
