'Crazy Rich Asians' director denies Brenda Song was told she wasn't 'Asian enough' for film.

Made us tear up many times.”According to Song’s account, she’s long been a fan of the novels on which the film is based. After asking her managers for an opportunity for a meeting or to audition for the movie, they came back with the bad news.
“I said: ‘This character is in her late to mid-20s, an Asian American, and I can't even audition for it? I've auditioned for Caucasian roles my entire career, but this specific role, you're not going to let me do it?” Song said. “You're going to fault me for having worked my whole life?’ I was like, ‘Where do I fit?’”
Following the incident, Song took time to travel and “got herself together” upon her return to her home in Los Angeles, she told Teen Vogue. "All I can do is continue to put good auditions out there, do the best that I can — that's all I can ask for."
