Crews are still searching near Galveston for a 22-year-old man who was in a boat that capsized, the U.S. Coast Guard said Thursday.
The man — who was identified as Sergy Estrada — was in a boat with two other men when it capsized and they fell into the water near the Galveston Jetties. Coast Guard watchstanders had been notified early Thursday about the men falling in.Search crews were launched, and two of the people were rescued and taken to University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in stable condition, according to a Coast Guard release.
“The three individuals were reportedly in the water together for an extensive amount of time before a wave separated them,” the release read. Estrada, who was wearing a green construction shirt as well as blue jeans, is described as being 180 pounds and 5 feet 4 inches tall, according to the release.“Coast Guard Station Galveston boat crews and Coast Air Station Houston aircrews have completed their search patterns for the day,” the U.S. Coast Guard Heartland account wrote in a tweet around 8:11 p.m. “Coast Guard Cutter Alligator crews will remain on scene and continue searching through the night.
