The collision happened about 7:50 a.m.
In a statement, Lt. Erik Silacci said witnesses told police that a midsize SUV hit the crossing guard assigned to the intersection of Vineyard Avenue and Adams Way about 7:50 a.m. The intersection is near Valley View Elementary School.
Officers gave the crossing guard aid at the scene before an ambulance transported the person to a hospital. It was unknown how severe the person’s injuries were. The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and spoke with officers, Silacci said.
