Justin Steele tossed seven strong innings and Yan Gomes hit two of the visiting Chicago Cubs' five solo home runs in an 8-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.
Ian Happ, Seiya Suzuki and Patrick Wisdom also homered for Chicago, which had lost its last 10 games against the Dodgers dating to June 25, 2021. Happ had four hits, three RBIs and a stolen base.
The Cubs led 3-2 before hitting three homers in the eighth inning against Dodgers reliever Andre Jackson. Happ and Suzuki hit back-to-back home runs to begin the inning before Wisdom added a one-out blast to left field. The Dodgers responded in the bottom half of the third on Taylor's leadoff homer to left-center field. The home run was Taylor's third of the season and snapped an 0-for-12 skid.
