Stephen Curry conservó el brillo que mostró en la postemporada anterior ante Sacramento, al anotar 41 puntos para que los Warriors de Golden State vencieran el viernes 122-114 a los Kings.
Éste fue el primer encuentro en el Golden 1 Center desde que Curry eliminó a los Kings con una obra maestra de 50 puntos en el séptimo partido de su serie de primera ronda. Aquella serie encendió la rivalidad entre dos franquicias del norte de California que jamás habían tenido éxito de manera simultánea.
Una multitud que llenó la arena para el primer duelo de los Kings como locales en esta campaña conservó el entusiasmo durante buena parte de la noche. Sin embargo, se marchó decepcionada cunado los Kings volvieron a carecer de respuesta ante Curry, quien definió el duelo con un triple en el último minuto. Curry anotó 16 puntos en el tercer periodo para que Golden State tomara el control del duelo.
