The projects will provide $700,000 to KS Associates to ID parts of the lakefront that have been filled in with junk and $1.4 million for GHD Services to conduct professional engineering services on .7 miles of lakefront access.
County Council gave unanimous approval to the projects during a Friday meeting, which is council’s last scheduled meeting of 2022.
The first of the two projects would provide $700,000 to KS Associates to identify parts of the lakefront that have been filled in with junk – sometimes even oil-based products or asphalt. KS Associates was the only company to bid on the project, despite the city reaching out to its usual pool of vendors to solicit proposals, Dever said.The second project is $1.4 million for GHD Services, Inc. to conduct professional engineering services on .7 miles of lakefront access, as part of the Gold Coast Lakefront project. Design and engineering are expected to take 18 months, and the construction begin date is listed as “to-be-decided.
While some communities have jumped at the opportunity, others, such as Bratenahl, have not, Dever said.
