While on the surface, not that much seems to have fundamentally changed with Cyberpunk 2077 in patch 1.3 with hundreds more bug fixes and only minor QoL additions and bits of new content, it was a sprawling 35-40...
The takeaway here is that while Cyberpunk Online may be dead, that there may be work being done to ensure that Cyberpunk 2077 does get a multiplayer component in some form down the road.
I was actually quite surprised when I heard that Cyberpunk Online was cancelled last spring, because I always assumed that the ultimate goal CDPR had here was to turn Night City into a GTA Online-like persistent experience, given how much that mode has extended the life of GTA 5, and the absurd mountain of revenue it’s generated.that this is what the new “Cyberpunk Multi” entails. It could be something far simpler like the ability to play the campaign co-op or something.
And then…multiplayer? A “live” Night City? That’s what this new data could indicate, and it makes a lot of sense as part of a long, long term turnaround plan for Cyberpunk 2077, which CDPR seems to be doubling down on rather than ditching to move on to their next project . We don’t know the details yet, but we know the framework, it seems. More to come.
