Daisy Ridley reflects on the reveal of Rey’s lineage in the StarWars sequel trilogy where she was revealed to be a descendant of Palpatine.
Star Wars sequel trilogy actress Daisy Ridley has shared her thoughts on Rey's family tree. Ridley recently spoke about the reveal of Rey being a Palpatine in 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, in an interview with Rolling Stone. Rey was first introduced in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She was living on the desert planet Jakku, trying to survive as a scavenger.
After the film's release, many fans expected to learn that Rey was related to an important character in Star Wars, similar to how Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa were related to Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker. The villain Kylo Ren was also the son of Leia and Han Solo . However, in 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it was revealed that her parents were not characters that Star Wars fans would already know.
COLLIDER VIDEO OF THE DAY Later, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker revealed that her grandfather was actually Emperor Palpatine . It was also revealed that Palpatine was alive, and went up against Rey at the end of the film. In the interview, Ridley talked about her view on Rey being revealed to be a Palpatine.
