The search to replace outgoing Dallas schools superintendent Michael Hinojosa is off to an interesting start.
The initial group of four firms – which included JG Consulting – were picked after board president Ben Mackey asked the board’s legal counsel at Dallas law firm Thompson and Horton to come up with a short list of some of the state’s and nation’s best search firms. “I am not going to vote for any firm that was recommended by this board’s attorney, and that we didn’t have a process of procurement,” she said. “I’m not going to be a part of that type of railroading from this district.”
The “older and outdated” comments showed bias, Johnson said, adding that he now believed the proposal process was “tainted.” After JG Consulting was approved, Foreman nominated a second search firm to share in the work: Walsh Gallegos.
