Truly remarkable 🙏 Hamlin, who has been in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center’s intensive care unit all week, had his breathing tube removed overnight and FaceTimed his teammates Friday morning.

After doctors asked Hamlin to respond to them with writing, Hamlin asked them who won Monday’s night game, not knowing it was postponed, in a moment that epitomized his recoverys. Doctors told Hamlin that Hamlin had “won the game of life.”

Hamlin breathing on his own was the next milestone doctors wanted to see him reach and he did just that on Friday. The next step will likely be trying to get Hamlin back to Buffalo once his condition has improved to a point where that’s feasible.
