Strauss is one of three incumbent councilmembers who has announced plans to seek re-election.
BySEATTLE — Councilmember Dan Strauss has confirmed he will seek re-election to the Seattle city council.The incumbent councilmember represents District 6, which includes northwest Seattle neighborhoods such as Ballard, Greenlake and Magnolia.
“During the past four years, we’ve been hit with a pandemic, an exploding homelessness population, a racial reckoning over policing practices, increasing crime rates, and a shortage of housing,” Strauss said in a news release. “I’ve worked hard to help improve Northwest Seattle, and I have an ambitious plan to tackle Seattle’s problems.”
All seven district positions will appear on the ballot this November. Strauss is one of three incumbent councilmembers seeking re-election, along with Tammy Morales, who represents District 2, and Andrew Lewis, who represents District 7. Strauss says he plans to kick off his campaign with a listening tour in Magnolia, an area of the city which was just added to his district last fall.
