Two news outlets have identified the man who choked Jordan Neely to death as 24-year-old ex-Marine Daniel Penny.
NYPD officers questioned Penny on Monday and released him without charges. Earlier that same day, Penny was seen choking Neely, 30, for more than three minutes aboard an F train and was. The medical examiner’s office determined that Neely died from compression of his neck, ruling his death to be a homicide.
According to Penny’s LinkedIn profile, he joined the Marines in 2017 after graduating from West Islip High School. PennyProsecutors and detectives are said to be weighing potential charges for the veteran.
