Substack co-founder and CEO Chris Best says Dave Chappelle is welcome on the publishing platform, amid an uproar over the comedian’s remarks in a new Netflix special WSJTechLive
“Dave Chappelle is welcome on Substack,” Mr. Best said Tuesday at The Wall Street Journal’s Tech Live conference with top executives, technologists and policy makers.
Substack is a business that allows writers to brand their own newsletters and pitch subscriptions to readers. Launched in 2017, the platform has allowed journalists, professors, experts and other influential figures to develop stand-alone businesses based on subscriptions. “A few hundred paid subscribers can support a livelihood. A few thousand makes it lucrative,” the company says on its website.
