People are making the trip to Death Valley, considered the hottest spot on Earth, as it pushes the limit during an unrelenting heat wave that has temperatures hovering around 130 degrees.

Many go there to get photos next to a large thermometer on display in the park. The Insider has several photos from the park, including of a 71-year-old hiker covered in sunscreen, wearing long sleeves and gloves as he tried to protect himself from the sun.

“I was really noticing, you know, I didn’t feel so hot, but my body was working really hard to cool myself,” Jusehus tells the AP. The AP reports that National Park Service says at least four people have died this year from heat-related causes across 424 national park sites, including a 65-year-old man from San Diego who was found dead in his vehicle at Death Valley earlier this month.
