The ads come at a crucial time as Congress adjourned for its August recess, giving lawmakers six weeks to speak with voters in their home districts as they vie for reelection next year. Archer noted the conversations did not pertain to business but were merely social in nature, prompting Democrats to accuse Republicans of wasting resources to investigate false claims.
