Democrats maintained their majority in the state Senate while flipping the House of Delegates. The results are seen as a blow to Gov. Glenn Youngkin , who will now have a harder time advancing his conservative agenda through the state legislature.Gov. Andy Beshear won a second term, defeating challenger Daniel Cameron with 52% of the vote. Beshear built his campaign around expanding abortion access in the state, which currently bans most abortions.
Democrats saw a successful Election Night on Tuesday, scoring wins in a number of competitive contests. Abortion rights advocates also saw a number of wins, most notably in Ohio, where voters chose to enshrine abortion protections.
