Joe Flacco's brief tenure with Denver Broncos is over.
The team released the 12-year veteran quarterback just one year after it acquired him in a trade from the Baltimore Ravens, the Broncos announced Thursday.
Flacco was released with a failed physical designation. The 35-year-old was placed on injured reserve with a herniated disc after eight games last year. He completed 65.3% of his passes for 1,822 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions as Denver stumbled to a 2-6 start. Rookie Drew Lock took the reins from Brandon Allen for the final five games of the year and guided the team to a 4-1 finish. After the season, general manager John Elway said it would be"unrealistic" not to expect Lock to be the starter in 2020.
