A Denver police officer shot and killed a man suspected of domestic violence in south Denver Saturday evening, police said.
The shooting happened in the 2300 block of W. Cedar Avenue just before 8 p.m. Saturday. Neighbors called 911 after seeing the man assaulting a woman and child in that area, police Chief Ron Thomas said. The woman was pushed out of her wheelchair, Thomas said, but was uninjured.
When two officers responded, they arrived to find the woman on the ground outside and an upset man nearby, police alleged. Thomas said during a Saturday night news conference the man began “approaching the officers in a very aggressive manner,” and did not follow their orders to stop. One officer used a Taser on the man, but it did not stop the man’s advance.
