Southern Illinois sheriff, Jeff Bullard, hopes the no-cash bail ruling will hold, but remains concerned about existing SAFE-T Act provisions affecting police.

No hearing date has been set, but the justices announced plans for an expedited process to review the appeal and make a final ruling. Bullard, however, said a defendant can petition the court to declare themselves indigent, or unable to afford cash bail.
