In Destiny 2's Verdant Forest in the Revelry, there is no real reason to ever go past branch 20 or so, and that might even be overkill.
. It’s a spin on the Haunted Forest which was itself a spin on the Infinite Forest, and I appreciate that Bungie is starting to make that mode live up to its potential, at least in these events.
The Verdant Forest activity is strange, however. You clear branches to add to a four minute timer and rack up extra seconds for a final five-stage boss fight. But branches are easy to clear quickly and they never get any harder over time. This resulted in me getting to branch 35 my first try before purposefully failing out of boredom, but I have seen some ofThere is no point to this. None at all. No matter what, you will end up with the same five-boss fight at the end when your timer runs out or you all wipe, whether it’s branch 5 or branch 500. As such, I think a PSA is in order.
In my experience with the Verdant Forest, there is no real reason to ever go past say, branch 20 or so, and that might even be overkill. That will give you about two minutes for the final boss fight, and yet you will discover that killing enemiesthe boss fight gives you additional time, so it’s more than enough. At branch 20, starting with 2 minutes, I still had 1 minute left on the clock after killing all five bosses because of added time.
If you’re having fun seeing how far you can get with friends, sure, go for it. But I think for random matchmaking it would benefit everyone if we all agree that at branch 20 or so, that’s the limit, and no matter how much time we have left on the clock, it’s probably in everyone’s best interesting just to chill, fail the timer, and start the boss fight.
